Hi, I’m Zoya!

I'm a content writer and editor based in Montreal, Canada.

I'm a graduate from the University of British Columbia with a B.A. in English Literature and Linguistics. The focus of my major was rhetoric and cognitive linguistics: simply put, I'm obsessed with dissecting the 'how' and 'why' of effective arguments and clear communication, as well as examining how we construct and depend on figurative language to communicate the inexpressible parts of life.

This obsession led me to create my own business: an affordable tutoring service aimed at helping fellow students develop their writing and editing skills, concentrating on preparing them for life post-graduation (whether that meant writing grad school applications or cover letters for LinkedIn).

Over time, this brought me to my present-day writing work, developing everything from landing pages and social media strategies to textbooks and brand style guides for clients within a wide range of industries. My goal? To help others translate their abstract ideas into accessible and concrete language, saving the world from poor communication, one simplified sentence at a time.
